We are so beyond proud of American Studies Professor Annie Coleman who was chosen as a recipient of the honorable Joyce Award for the 2022-2023 school year. Congratulations Annie and thank you for all that you do for our department, and most importantly, our students.
The Rev. Edmund P. Joyce Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching was created in 2007 to annually honor faculty members who have had a profound influence on undergraduate students through sustained exemplary teaching at Notre Dame. The Joyce Award recognizes faculty who create environments that stimulate significant student learning, elevate students to a new level of intellectual engagement, and foster students’ ability to express themselves effectively within the discipline.
Undergraduates and faculty are welcomed early each spring to nominate a faculty member who they feel has lived up to this criteria. Following student and faculty nominations, seven dean appointed selection committees on the subjects business, engineering, fine Arts & architecture, humanities, language and literature, science, and social Science, select a final list of awardees to be submitted to the provost.
Winners of the Joyce Award appear on the Notre Dame Website, in various Notre Dame publications, are featured in the program for Commencement, and have the opportunity to share their teaching insights with fellow Notre Dame Faculty.
