Biography

Sarah Mustillo is currently serving as the Dean of Arts and Letters. Her research examines the effects of adverse childhood experiences, broadly defined, on trajectories of physical and mental health, with a particular emphasis on the timing and duration of such experiences. Other work focuses on improving statistical methods for social science research. Her work has been published in outlets such as the American Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Marriage and Family, the American Journal of Sociology, and the Journal of Health and Social Behavior and she has won national awards from the Gerontological Society of America and the American Sociological Association (ASA). Additionally, she is co-authoring a book on statistical methods for dealing with missing data and working on an NIH-funded project on parent, sibling, and peer influences on initiation of substance use in adolescence. She is past secretary/treasurer for the Methods Section of the ASA has taught a workshop for the ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods, and recently ended a term as co-editor of the American Sociological Review.
